I went to a seminar with Jeffry Gordon a few years ago and he’s analyzed screenwriting about as much as you can and has lots of wisdom to share.

He runs the Writer’s Boot Camp which is a pretty high end package. I’m guessing he’ll pitch his service at the end of the seminar. At the seminar I went to he pitched his Boot Camp service but there was no hard sell and it was easy to excuse yourself if you weren’t interested (which is what I did).

If you’re in the Santa Monica area and are interested in television writing I highly recommend that you attend. It will be well worth your time.

Make sure you leave yourself plenty of time to find the location because it’s a little tricky finding the place.

Here’s the email that I got:

I’m not affiliated with this seminar in any way and I’ve never attended it but it’s free so how can you lose? It’s another good reason to live in the Los Angeles area. These types of free events happen quite often and can be fun and educational.

Over the years I have been to many of these types of free screenwriting seminars. They often try and sell you something at the end of them but I’ve never found any of the people running them to be overly pushy in trying to close the sale – and I’ve never bought anything from any of them.

So if you have the time I highly recommend that you attend.
