In this episode of the Selling Your Screenplay Podcast I interview Jason Spellman. Jason recently optioned his first screenplay. His story is both informative and inspiring. He’s just a regular guy with a family and job pushing hard to launch a screenwriting career. And he shares all the specific things he did to actually get the screenplay optioned.

The podcast is available in iTunes, YouTube, Stitcher (for Android users), the Windows Marketplace, and the Blackberry store or you can simply listen to it or watch it right from my blog.

  1. I am on your email list. Have you ever reviewed / tested this guy’s screenplay coverage / movie script analysis work? HE does it for just Five Dollars! lol

    Specifically this gig?

I can’t really afford to pay a few hundred dollars for coverage or analysis of my script not really knowing/ never seeing a “sample” of what to expect from the ones you recommend. But this guy does show a sample and good ( great!) reviews and apparently has SOLD several screenplays, so it appears he knows what he’s doing. I wonder if you know who is is maybe? Just wondering if it would be worth it to me to set up a fiverr.com account and pay him. Anyone else use his service?

    1. I really don’t know. It’s hard to imagine that anyone would read a script and give notes for just $5, but I guess that’s what Fiverr is all about. For just $5 how can you go wrong? Even if the notes are terrible you haven’t lost much.

I can get you samples from the people listed on my site, if that would make a difference.

  2. Excellent podcast, Ashley. This one hit home especially since I’m in the newbie stages of polishing my screenplay and figuring out what to do next. Certainly made my treadmill run a lot more enjoyable. Thanks!

    1. Hey, thanks. Yeah, Jason gave out some good quality advice. Good luck with your script. Let me know when you option it and I’ll have you on the show to talk about how you did it.
